# This recorder token belongs to a different user

1. logout from [asciinema.org](http://asciinema.org)
2. run asciinema auth and clicked the url
3. enter my email and open mail box and click on the mail sent from [hello@asciinema.org](mailto:hello@asciinema.org)
4. clicked the url from email
5. saw the “This recorder token belongs to a different user.” msg with a loggin status.

how do i fix this?

This happens when you already link your local machine (its install ID) to another email address on [asciinema.org](http://asciinema.org)

Just checking, but is there also a way to clear the association with another, dead, account?

You can delete the installation ID file - `~/.local/state/asciinema/install-id` - and a new one will be generated next time you run `asciinema auth` or `asciinema upload`.
