I would like to annotate my asciicast v2 file to add comments/annotations. I’m intentionally not calling this a banner, since asciinema has a definitiion for that as the initial screen before it plays.

It would be great if this post-production tool could take a time marker and a text string that could insert these in a new asciicast file with a chyron on the bottom of the asciicast.

Has anyone done this?

[https://github.com/hydrargyrum/asciinema-comment](https://github.com/hydrargyrum/asciinema-comment) is the closest thing I’ve seen.

Not sure if helpful but, there’s new asciicast v3 format which makes many things easier: [asciicast v3 - asciinema docs](https://docs.asciinema.org/manual/asciicast/v3/)

- relative timestamps - easier insertion / removal of events
- support for line comments with `#` character
